History of Kurrajong
Kurrajong is an Aboriginal term of the genus Australian tree, Brachychiton. The bark fibers of the Brachychiton tree were used to create ropes, nets, and baskets.
Governor Phillip settled in the region in 1970 to look for a farming land to plant crops for the sustenance of their colony.
On 1795, the settlers try to discover a way through the mountains but it was only on 1823 when the easiest route was discovered by Archibald Bell, who followed the kidnapped Aboriginal women escaping from the Springwood tribe.
The well-known Bell`s Line of Road was built by the convicts in 1841.
